Norvasc blocks the transport of calcium into the smooth muscle cells lining the coronary arteries and other arteries of the body. In combination with other drugs for high blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of Amlodipine. Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Norvasc is used for the treatment and prevention of angina resulting from coronary artery spasm.
